She was 5 years old and weighed just 7 pounds. Months later, her parents are charged with murder

BUFORD, Ga. — A Buford couple is in the slammer following a months-in length examination concerning the passing of their 5-year-old little girl.

Lobby County Sheriff’s Office agents captured Jerrail Maurice Mickens, 31, and Porscha Danielle Mickens, 29, on Tuesday at their home off Rustic Pine Lane. They are both accused of crime murder and first-degree pitilessness to youngsters, specialists said.

On June 7, 2020, authorities at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton informed appointees about a lethargic 5-year-old-young lady, Kylie Mickens, who had been brought to the clinic for therapy by her folks.

Kylie, who they said weighed only seven pounds, was traveled to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta – Scottish Rite Hospital. Because of her condition and weight, representatives told the Hall County Division of Family and Children Services and examiners with the sheriff’s office.

After one day, Kylie passed on.

The sheriff’s office started a four-month examination concerning Kylie’s demise. They said it included meetings, searches of the Mickens’ home and a post-mortem examination by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said the examination uncovered the 5-year-old’s passing was because of “parchedness and lack of healthy sustenance because of clinical disregard.”

The couple stays in the slammer at the Hall County Jail without bond. They showed up on Wednesday.

Specialists state the case stays under scrutiny.
