Tekken, Is Pakistan still on the TOP or has Korea reclaimed the Throne?

Tekken, Is Pakistan still on the TOP, or has Korea reclaimed the Throne?

Until Feb last year, no one had heard of Pakistan in the FGC.  Arslan Ash with his dominant performance against the heavy hitters of  Tekken sent shockwaves amongst the FGC community. Everyone wanted to know about Arslan Ash and why he remained in the shadows until now and were there any other good players from Pakistan who could beat top Korean players just like him? Because no one had imagined the world of Tekken without the Koreans dominating the scene. The Koreans seemed invincible until now and all of a sudden a guy from nowhere beats the Koreans?

Is Arslan the only player in Pakistan to be able to beat the Koreans?

When questioned, Arslan said that there were other players from where he was from, who were better than him. At that time some people thought that he was being humble, while others thought that this could be possible. Again on Evo Las Vegas 2019, Arslan came on top beating KNEE twice. The doubts about Arslan’s skills were cleared which had been circulating since Evo Japan. Fast forward to August, it’s Tekken world tour time and KNEE is beaten again by another player from Pakistan named Awais Honey. After that, Another player emerged from Pakistan to the scene by winning the Tokyo Masters event. His name was Atif Butt.

Heavy hitters from Pakistan started to Rise one after another

Players from Pakistan kept coming and wining one tournament after another. Pakistan dominated the LCQ and won, the winner was recently sponsored by FATE esports, Bilal.

Everyone was expecting that someone from Pakistan would win the TWT. But surprisingly no one from Pakistan reached the top 8 at the Tekken World Tour finals.

Here are the final results.

Final thoughts

Still Not very bad from the Pakistanis since no one even knew about them a year ago. Some people speculated that “all the wins up until now were luck and that they won against the Koreans because no one knew about their play style. Now everyone knows their playstyle and they won’t win any matches against the Koreans”. Although it’s true that Pakistan’s performance was not as expected, they still are to be feared as they are still the same players who beat the likes of KNEE and all the heavyweights of the Tekken world. One bad tournament can’t define their skills. A lot of these players have learned from their mistakes and are now practicing with each other day in and day out. Arslan regularly invites other unknown players from Pakistan to his streams and plays with them. So the next tournament they are going to come in greater numbers and surprise everyone again.
